International Design Contest in Taiwan
I was selected by the TU Delft to participate in the ‘International Design Contest’ in Taiwan. Aim of this workshop about interactive toys at the National Cheng Kun University (NCKU) was to stimulate cooperation among universities over the world.
With my communication skills (visuals and verbal) I bridged cultural differences and language barriers within my team, consisting of two Taiwanese design students and me. This resulted in good team work. My team won the second prize with ‘Rattle, the lifetime diary.
Rattle, the lifetime diary
Every night, before go to sleep, this rattle scans baby’s hand from birth with use of the innate grasping reflex. This results in growth data illustrated by cute little visuals of baby hands.
Parents and children together record events linked to today’s hand. In this way, photo’s, sound, stories, occasions, first steps, words or teeth are stored for life.
For the child it is part of his/her bedtime ritual and therefore they will not forget. For parents it feels like a special gift.
Who remembers being a baby? It is fun to know how you were back than. Open it like an oister and treasure your childhood memories.
