Children with autism in India
I was in India to explore possibilities for a joint project on autism with the Advanced Product Design and Prototyping department of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore (India). This institute wants to develop a wearable communication tool for children with autism. During my stay in Bangalore, I visited a special school for autistic children in Bangalore, called ASHA. ASHA teaches about 70 children with autism, most in the range of 4 to 18 years old.
At Asha, I realized much is the same as in the Netherlands. As you can see at the pictures below, they make use of pictograms and the children enjoy jumping on the trampoline too. At this school, I also presented LINKX to all the group workers. Next, the director, Jayashree Ramesh showed me her school, the children, and their way of teaching.
